About Camps & Clinics
No camps will be held in the 2008 season. Please check our day clinics page for updates on weekend day clinics.
For many years, Scott has envisioned holding trail running camps to encourage and educate runners of all levels, sharing what they need to know to enjoy trail running to their fullest capabilities. In 2003, he started Beyond Running with a mission to provide the ultimate instructional trail running camp experience. Through these camps, Scott shares his holistic training philosophy which is an integral part of his success as a competitive runner.
Do you want to:
- run stronger and faster with greater endurance on all types of terrain?
- know what your training should incorporate to achieve your goals?
- identify what and when to eat and drink during training and racing?
- learn what you can do to keep new injuries from occurring and avoid past injuries?
- continue to run the trails late in life with a healthy body and mind?
- have fun on new trails with other inspiring runners while meeting friends for life?
You've found your camp!
Running is more than logging miles and Scott has developed these camps to allow participants to experience his holistic training philosophy first hand while gaining motivation through the groupıs energy, allowing for complete embodiment of the knowledge and information shared. Scott prides himself as being your lead instructor during all camps.
A typical day at camp is packed with information, instruction, activity, and great wholesome meals. This is not a running retreat where you will run in the morning and nap all afternoon. Scott wants everyone to get their moneyıs worth and will see to it that participants will be going to bed needing a good nights rest! The day will usually start early with breakfast followed by a run, often working on technique, and then lunch. The afternoon is spent covering topics such as properly balanced training, nutrition throughout the day and during the run, flexibility and strength, rest and recovery, proper form and technique, and a healthy mindset. Video analysis and drills may also be a part of this time. Following dinner, participants are often treated to guest speakers, videos, snacks, and if needed, more lecture. Please see each camp for specifics.
Runners who have attended Scott's camps:
- feel stronger in their climbing
- have more speed on the flats
- are more confident running downhills
- feel better during their training runs
- recover more quickly
- are running faster while achieving their performance goals
- have new confidence and purpose during each and every training session
