Stride Analysis

About Stride Analysis

Running is a natural movement the body is designed to perform smoothly, although today's lifestyle contributes to unnatural postures and movement patterns for many. With experienced guidance, running can be more efficient, pain- free and enjoyable.

Scott has been providing stride analysis to runners of all levels since 2000. He offers a running-form review with slow motion video analysis. This is reviewed in detail with the client. Scott uses this assessment and review to help the client find efficient movement patterns during running. The client learns through observing their movement on video while getting the feedback and instruction from Scott.

Clients find their optimal stride and benefit by:

  • improving speed
  • running with less effort
  • decreasing injuries
  • running with less pain
  • developing good habits early if new to running
  • finding areas that need to be strengthened
  • making running more fun!

The service incorporates three 75 minute sessions usually performed with a minimum of one week in between sessions. They include ongoing analysis of form, stride recommendations, stretching, strengthening, and drills:

  • Session one: includes overall assessment, foot type and shoe wear reviews to provide specific fit and footwear selection, introduction to running posture, upper body movement, and stride rate
  • Session two: Scott starts with a review of session one and then moves on to assess and instruct lower body movement and stride length
  • Session three: allows for a complete review after you have had time to incorporate changes and make improvements

Please bring to your appointments current running shoes, old running shoes showing significant wear, orthotics or insoles if used, standard running attire, and a towel if you are a heavy sweater. Please note that baggy clothing should be avoided if possible; short shorts and singlet, tank top, or sports top are preferred. Plan to run for 15-30 minutes intermittently during your appointment time.
