Scott brings to Beyond Running an enthusiasm for all aspects of training that is dangerously contagious! He shares experiences gained from nearly twenty years of balanced training for competitive nordic skiing and running. In addition to setting a course record of 24:36 in the 2005 Badwater Ultramarathon, Scott has won the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run an unprecedented seven consecutive times out of seven approaches to the start line, setting a new course record of 15:36 in 2004. Scott continues to compete, racing nearly a dozen ultramarathons per year. What he has learned from his athletic success, he combines with his academic background to round out his approach to instructing. He encompasses both experiential and scientific information. His down to earth personality and ability to explain complex ideas in easy to understand formats makes him an excellent educational source.
