Beyond Running's "Campers" are folks from all walks of life and are athletes of all abilities. We work with runners in their twenties and in their sixties, those who are training for their first half marathon and those trying to PR for a 100 miler, with years of experience running trails to those who have never run a step on trail, from novice to very seasoned, and those coming from other athletic backgrounds.

All participants have one thing in common- the desire to improve their trail running. Most trail runners and runners in general have spent very little time learning about how they can improve their performance and health. Topics such as running technique, sports nutrition, exercise physiology based training, stretching and strengthening are covered in detail and explained in a way that's easy to understand and implement immediately. The camp structure works easily with a wide range of abilities because the information covered is pertinent no matter what the participant's ability level.

One thing so many people love about running, trail running and ultras is the camaraderie. Our camps are a major extension of this. Where else can you get a group of people together from many different backgrounds, not just running together, but learning together, sharing past experiences, and making new memories. We have doctors, teachers, students, lawyers, mothers, and retirees all behaving themselves as if they're long lost friends from years back. We love seeing how a group of runners can come together to be supportive of each other as they adapt their running and training methods.

Dear Jurek Campers:
My kids (and probably my wife) are getting a little tired of me discussing all of you like long lost family members. I pointed out Karl's WS 100 finish line photo by Glenn to my 15 year old son and said "this was my roommate at camp!" He just rolled his eyes and moved away slowly. I've forced extended family members to watch my two WS 100 DVDs as I diligently point out Scott, Leah and John. My pre-work running buddies have had to listen to my recounting of the webcast for the WS 100 and the associated split times for the members of Team Jurek. To my 14 year daughter and her friend I pointed out Lisa's picture in UltraRunning magazine. Needless to say, I embarrassed her. Okay, I admit it; I'm ready for a family reunion. Just thinking about you guys makes me want a shot of wheat grass!

Mike
Thanks again for showing me something about running and traveling over dirt on foot. I had the chance to be in the South Pacific last week, and decided to take a ferry boat over to Moorea to run around the island, about 60K. A year ago I never would have thought that was a reasonable thing to do. So thanks again for all the help in moving me along the trail. I'm having fun running!
