Clients & Testimonials
Scott's clients are athletes of all abilities. He works with runners in their twenties and in their sixties, those who are training for their first half marathon and those trying to PR for a 100 miler, and from novice to elite.
Scott is the right coach for the athlete who is inspired by his training philosophies and desires to make profound improvements in their running and lifestyles. He loves to work with motivated individuals, but he doesn't expect out of a client the same intensity of focus he expects of himself. When planning a client's training, he considers what is going on in their life and how much time they can allow for training. He challenges his clients according to their abilities and loves to see their improvements as they become stronger and smarter runners.

As a marathon and ultramarathon runner, I am amazed at my continued improvement and personal growth as a runner and person under Scott Jurek's coaching the past 3 years. His coaching skills and professional approach to maximizing individual potential are unparalleled. Plagued with chronic foot problems, injuries and a plateau in my performance, I have been running injury free over the last couple of years; and Scott now has me attempting to finish my first 100 mile race. At 57 years old, I recently ran 94 miles in the San Diego 100 Mile Endurance Run; 57 miles in the San Diego 12 Hour road race; qualified for the 2007 Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run; and will be running in my 5th Boston Marathon. Scott has me feeling like I am in my 30s again and that I have yet to tap into my potential as a runner.-Don

After 16 years of running, with six dedicated to ultra events, I decided to up the ante and get a 24 hour finish at Western States 100M (WS 100). I ran the race in 2004 with this goal, but missed by over an hour. Logging long miles and attending a lot of races was the staple of my training plan. I was fairly successful using this method, but would often suffer from minor injuries and probably an occasional case of over training. I was ready to try something new to ensure I would reach my WS 100 goal.-RondaI toyed with the idea of having Scott as a running coach but thought he surely wouldn't be interested in coaching someone at my level. After visiting his website it became very clear that Scott works with all levels and all goals with regards to running. When I mentioned it to my husband he said, "Sign up today, when does anyone get the opportunity to be coached by the best in their sport?"
Scott understands each person's individual talents and builds from there. He is a very engaged coach, asks a lot of questions and listens closely to answers. My training for the 2005 WS 100 was so different than I had imagined it would be. Scott taught me the value of quality workouts, the importance of strength training, and how to adequately fuel my body for training and racing. The benefits of incorporating all this new knowledge into my training are so measurable I will never return to my days of logging endless miles. I remained injury free, ran faster and stronger, while having an absolute blast training. And I achieved my goal and ran 22:59, placing 8th in the woman's group.
